Citizenship Preparation

US Citizenship

This class helps U.S. Permanent Residents prepare to become U.S. Citizens. Students get help filling out the government’s N-400 application form, practicing for the USCIS interview, and learning about American civics and history. Minimum beginner-level English is required. FREE!

ESL Multi Level

English as a Second Language

This program is designed to provide training in communication skills ranging from basic survival English through English proficiency required for employment and citizenship. English language is taught in the context of life skills including health, education, employment, nutrition, emergencies, recreation, and environment.

English as a Second Language Evening Programs

Our evening classes are open entry, so students may enroll at any time. We offer two levels at the Ventura Adult Education Center, 5280 Valentine Road, and one multi-level class at the Westview Center, Olive Street off Ventura Avenue.

ESL on the Computer (Computer Lab)

Use a variety of fun, interactive computer programs to improve your English skills. Work at your own pace with Rosetta Stone and other programs that will help you build vocabulary, apply grammar, practice pronunciation and improve writing skills in English. Access the Internet for lots of English language learning resources. Registration fee is $10 for the year; no charge if registered for ESL class.

English as a Second Language Daytime Programs

Our Session Plan offers students focused study and faster progress. There are separate classes for three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Registration is every Friday from 9 am to 11 am (except holidays) in Room 225 of Ventura Adult Ed Ctr. Call 289-1749 ext 1301 with questions. Se habla español.

Class schedule includes English on Computers from 8:00 - 9:00 am, followed by English instruction from 9:00 - noon. Computer lab is also available from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Registration fee is $10 for the year. After the first session, register in Room 225B any Friday from 8 am to 12 pm.
