Federal Pell GrantAn entitlement program using federal money for undergraduate students. A Federal Pell Grant is based on financial need. There is a maximum award amount given each fiscal year based on a 30-week course that covers 900 clock hours of instruction. Please see your financial aid technician for details. Pell grant funding is available for any program more than 10 weeks in length. NOTE: Pell grants are not available for students who have a bachelor's degree or a professional degree. A federal loan program for students based on need. The maximum loan amount is $2,625.00 for a 30-week course that covers 900 clock hours of instruction. Payments start 6 months after the completion of instruction. No interest is charged while the student is in school and during the 6-month grace period. Four repayment plans are available. Federal Unsubsidized Stafford LoansA federal loan that is for independent students and is non-need based. The maximum loan amount is $4,000.00 for a 30-week course that covers 900 clock hours of instruction. Payments start 6 months after completion of instruction. Interest is charged to the loan immediately following the first disbursement of funds. Students have the option of paying the interest while attending school or allowing the interest to accrue and capitalize. This loan is available to dependent students if a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS loan), is denied. Four repayment plans are available. Payments can be combined with a student's Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan. |

Federal PLUS LoanAlso known as the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students, the maximum amount for a PLUS loan is the Cost of Education (both direct and indirect costs) minus any other form of financial aid. This loan is designed specifically for dependent students. A credit check will be made prior to final approval of the loan. If a parent is denied a PLUS loan, the student may apply for a Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. Payments start 60 days from the final disbursement of funds. Interest begins to accumulate at the time the first disbursement is made. |
